colonial protest about taxes

The colonial protest began with the change of way of thinking from the renaissance to the enlightment some great thinkers of the enlightment where Baron de Montesqieu and John Loke. This thinkers argued that everyone had the right to live, liberty, and property. This is what started the colonial protest.
the tax boycott took 3 forms:
-intelectual protest
-economical
-violent
the intelectual protest: was that their wa leader that convinced them not to pay the taxes.

the economical protest: was that the people in america would not buy anything that was from england they only bought things that where made there.

violent protest: was that when some one went to you and charge the taxes they throw them a sticky liquid and then feathers or they made them drink hot hot tea, and to some they made destroyed there house.

Then in England when they saw they need to charge the taxes, Charles Townsled who was the chief financial officer in England decided they would indirectly charge the taxes. Townsled acts taxed: glass, paint, lead, paper, and tea. Then an enlgish merchant send 4000 troops to the colonies and that started the boston massacre.

Taxation on colonists

Brittish had the best government in all the world as we can still see in our days.

In the French and indian war, french lost and a treaty arise thet benefits the english.
The treaty sid that brittish had to keep canada and great lakes, leaving the mississippi river as a boundary between englih and spanish territories.

English had trade with America and Africa. These was called the triangular trade, they traded slaves, sugar, tabacco and rice cotton.
(each slave plantation had more than 200 slaves)

Now, colonists benefitted on these trades because they received protection from brittain at no costs. There is where problems arise, because war was very expensive and brittain needed more money to expend in war and they started TAXING the colonists. Colonists got upset and the argument became huge wars between them.
The most important taxes the Parliament levied on the colonists were:
Stamp Act
Quartering Act
Sugar act

Stamp act:
Each newspaper, pamphlets magazines had to have a stamp in order to be sold, even playing cards had stamps, these was a huge complain against the Brittish. Patrick Henry were one of the leaders in these opposition.

Sugar Act:
Were all the taxes imposed in all the foods that came from England

Quartering Act:

Taxes were not high, but colonists were very angry because they were taxing them without any representation from england this was called ¨taxation without representation¨ Colonists only wanted representation.

begginings of the american revolution

The American revolution was the political disaster in the 18th century in which 13 colonies unite to get freedom from the Brittish Empire and becoming the united States of America.

The thirteen colonies first rejected the authority of the parliament, because the parliament govern them from another continent, and the parliament had never come to these colonies.

they establish self governments, so they can send their own representatives to join the second continental government to defend their own governments. these lead to the American Revolutionary War.
